I'd call the SC law enforcement folks to be sure, but I feel like you should be ok by having a boat with a gas motor on it (just not running it).

Does anybody know if lake Monticello recreation lake is open every day or still only Wednesday and Saturday - also can you have a gas motor on your boat but not run it. -- like maybe leave gas tank home or in the truck so it couldn't be cranked

When I saw Monticello, I was confused as I've had my boat there before and lots of fast, big HP, gas powered boats were there. I never knew the upper corner was a separate recreation lake?

thanks Chris -- yes there is 2 lakes there - hwy 99 runs across the dam between the 2 of um. I fished there many years ago but could only fish on Wednesday and Saturdays and I had a gas motor but never cranked it and nobody said anything about it. I've heard since then its open for fishin every day I didn't want to go down there and get a ticket for something I didn't know about but from what you found nothing has changed since about 1986 lol.
thanks again for your help. let me know when the striper bite gets good and ill try to make the journey down and help you dissolve the population a little lol
thanks again my friend - hope to get to see you soon Robert. AKA as Uncle Remus![]()

Sounds like a good rainy day trip. Ride over there and see if there's sign with regulations and maybe even talk to a local or two??
