    Default The Rabbit Hole.

I just felt moved to say a few words about my adventure and the rabbit hole we all joke about. You all know how I resisted even looking for the hole for a long time. Building the Fenwicks kept me busy and they really perform well. The 5’6” and the 6’ are just an extension of my hand and they’re tough as nails, taking the punishment I deliver fishing among the trash like I do. I was sure that the JDM rods wouldn’t take the beating. Then came the first Presso. It was traded for and it rides my Phenix build. I said to Eric a day or two back that if I had found that rod finished on a rack that I would have put it back. It’s way softer than any rod I’ve had in a lot of years. They work so well together that it started my mind running. All of your reviews and comments about the stuff you buy has educated me about them and built questions in my mind. Being a see one, do one kind of person, I had to find the answers to all those questions. I now have 3 JDM rods and 3 Presso’s and I’ve run out of room in my limited storage space. I can’t leave rods in a corner or such, so some of the other, dusty stuff is finding a new home, and those thoughts used to scare me to pieces. I’ve spent a lifetime gathering rigs that do just what I need them to do. All on a budget, of course, which is part of what made them so precious to me. Seeing them go away now doesn’t affect me like I thought it might. Having them replaced with top shelf gear like I’ve never considered has me looking forward to the next trip like a kid. These rigs are tougher than I ever dreamed. I’ve landed big fish on all of them at least once. The drag on the Presso’s is so smooth and consistent that the lighter line holds up during what have been the toughest fights. The lines take some getting used to but they’re second to none I’ve ever used. To recap and finish, I don’t regret anything about this trip that y’all have patiently helped me along. Thanks to you all and I’m hoping to meet some of y’all as my travels progress, or maybe yours down here. Two seats in my boat and ones empty most times, come fill it…….Skeet

As others have said, nicer equipment isn’t necessary to catch fish , but for me it adds a little extra to the experience .
Edit : You might think you’re cured , but then it happens again.
i got the fever again . Two Palms rods on order .

We kid each other about this rabbit hole N all, but seriously, at one time or another, we have all been there. I really enjoy the trips everyone else takes, as being here in my situation right now, I don't get many. Between taking care of MS Joyce, and our fur babies, the house and yard, and nursing my knee and back. Well enough on me. Tim, truly enjoy your trips and pic's, as well as everyone's who are gracious enough to take us on that trip with you. And who knows, the Good Lord willing, Ms. Joyce and I will get that way. Got a Daughter, Son in law and a couple grand babies live in the Starke area, so you never know. Ole uncle same ever pays up for Camp Lejune, We'll be heading that way. Till then, don't get too deep in that hole, it get's dark...

Chaser, I’m sure another will come visit me one day. Like I said, I’ve got some pretty nice stuff beside my JDM stuff. One of my displaced rods is a 6’9” Fenwick worm and jig rod that’s in very good shape. I just don’t reach for it when I set up to go. Might keep it and the Curado, makes a nice rig. I’m sure enjoying the new stuff.

Turns out my favorite JDM rod was the first one that I purchased six years ago. It's the perfect rod for me. When I first got it the rod tip is .8 mm and I found it hard to believe that something that small would hold up and not break but fell in love with it from the first trip. Purchased another just like the first plus two rod tips in case one broke. Turns out I've broken tips twice but both were my fault, line wraps. Thanks again for fixing those tips Skeet. Been carrying one regular and one with tip you fixed and love them both. Lots of memorable catches with these outfits with hopefully more yet to come.

Jim, I have the parts from the repairs that I just found on my desk. I’ll send em to ya soon. Glad those repairs were good enough to keep ‘em runnin a while longer.
