    Default Went Creek’in

    Didn’t start out there .
I started at the town pond and it looked so bad I didn’t even make a cast .
I headed to lake McIntosh where I fished off the dock for about thirty minutes and caught one small gill .
Then I remembered there was a short section of creek below the dam. The upper end has a fenced off buffer zone , about 80-100 yards downstream, it’s posted by the local airport.
I found three spots I was able to get off some kind of cast and caught fish .
I was fishing my 4’10” Major Craft Finetail Glass which was the perfect rod for fishing between the trees along the creek.
It was paired with my Shimano Soare XR500spg and 2# Floroclear.
I didn’t lose any fish with the 2# line but if I’d caught anything bigger than what I caught I may have . Wishing I had braid on this one with at least 3# leader .
I caught twelve gills and three small bass in the hour I spent there .
Getting there is a good walk downhill , coming out on the dam’s service road, it was all uphill . At least it was paved .

I had a banded water snake pay me a visit just before I left , I chased it off with a stick , but it was back in five minutes , staring up at me .
Love creek fishing even if it’s tough to do .

You had a good morning of it. I think of walking like you spoke of and cringe at the thought of my knees afterwards. Nino has a new 5’ rod that he’s loving for the right places he’s been fishing where we went today. Hope you get out again soon, all my new gear performed perfectly, see my other post.

Good job. I don’t like snakes though.

Looks like you had another pleasant trip. It seems like you are finding some nice spots although a long uphill walk would have me questioning just how bad I wanted to fish lol.

Also, What The actual H?! How close did you let that snake get?! Where I come from that is trespassing and trespassers get shot.

The walk was worth it to get away from the crowd .
The snake was about 3-4’ from where I was standing , In a small pool .. I think somebody’s been tossing it small gills to watch it eat them . It wasn’t afraid of me .

That does look like a tough but pretty place to have a quiet fish time. Nice looking catch.
