I want to apologize to the people of Memphis. That was me circling the airport yelling “How do we get in there?!” But Allen got to see planes landing over us. We circled the airport conte clockwise and did not see the way in. Made a u turn and started back around and thankfully the signage was much better.
We crossed Ole Man River into Arkansas and back.
A quick trip to BpS Pyramid! (Would have been much cooler if the storm had been open)
Circled Graceland. They do NOT want you to se the mansion from the street! Oh well.
Now as I sit in Memphis airport at 11am, and a 15 min phone call with my wife winds down, she says “you know what today is right?” I go quiet and panic sets in as I realize that it’s her birthday today. She laughs and says “aren’t you glad I’m not like ————?” (Someone we know who would go ballistic if her birthday was forgotten). I’m so blessed.
I’m blessed WAY beyond what I deserve. We aren’t money rich but my cup runs over in every other way. Thank you Lord.
I went fishing just a few miles away from people who lost everything to a tornado. Belongings, homes and even family members including children. Lord continue to be with those that need your loving touch while they carry and deal with a burden that I could not carry. Prayers for all involved.
Heading to Atlanta soon then on to Richmond where Marsha and Evelyn will be waiting for our return. Marsha will make fun of me for forgetting her birthday. And she will love me anyway. (If you live near Atlanta airport, I could really use some fresh, pretty flowers, if you could bring them to TSA checkpoint, thanks!)
Man, I hope they don’t want a lot out of me at work tomorrow. Next week is spring break for our public school. I get to take my next for buddy Caleb fishing. Yee Haw. I can’t wait!
Have a great week everyone. Spring is here. Hope you get to catch a few.

Thank Ed. The Slab Sauce will be used next week here on my home waters. We don't travel much. I don't ever fly. We packed light and did not check a bag. After reading all the regs on liquids and litium batteries on carry on luggage, I was afraid to take the Sauce. Thinking if they questioned what I have in there too hard, my only choice would be to throw it away at TSA. While I'm not really afraid to fly, it's not my favorite thing. I had packed knock-off GoPro gear and extra batteries, plus USB batteries to recharge phones and such. Delta/TSA says you are limited to number of batteries, size of spare batteries, total Watt-Hours of all batteries combined and each battery must be wrapped sperately and presented/declared to TSA. I figued I'd get pulled out of line and checked to see what else I had. I was pretty nervous.
Our trip was an experience. Day two guide's lower unit locked up shortly after lunch. Garmin Trolling motor did not like being on high trying to get up back to the nearest ramp. It quit. Zero power to it. Would not even turn on. Checked and trouble shot the litiums for problems or sleep mode. Swapped batteries. Nothing. Had to call a friend for a tow.
Both John Mayo and Joey Ferguson were awesome guides. Easy going. Likealbe. And great fisherman. Despite the canceled flight, high, muddy water, rental car tire warning light popping up 1hr into Mississippi showing 21 pounds but the valve stem would not take air, the big fish on Livescope that refused to eat, the dead outboard, the dead trolling motor, the dead armadillos all over the sides of I-55, the closed Bass Pro, the non-visible Graceland and the forgotten Birthday..........we had a heck of a good time.
It was nice to be back in my own bed last night. Going thru the back log of work emails now. Looking forward to more fishing next week.
