Default Muddy Water Ain’t So Bad!

Well the clear water trip wasn’t very productive, so I figured, try the other extreme!
Went to Bayou Louie this morning. Didn’t get up early, had to feed the animals.
I put in at Bill’s Landing. The water is 4-5 feet high, so it’s not as scary as it is when the water is low. It’s a steep ramp!! Name: IMG_2207.jpg

Then tried a couple submerged fallen trees. Bingo!! Fished a silver and white 1/16 oz jig with two strands of red/silver flashabou. Ended up catching about two dozen.
I’m starting to like muddy water !!

The silver with a white tail, with a couple strands of red/silver flashabou, were the jigs I used last trip. I found the chartreuse and orange “pipe cleaners” at Wally. I want to try them in muddy water. But first I have to work a little.

Also thought I would mention the Peg-x stoppers. I use them on my line below (or, above and below, my sinker. I usually use the 1/8 oz steel sinkers. They show up on Livescope better than lead. The neat thing about the stoppers is, if you get snagged, you can reel down and carefully push the sinker down to your jig, and with a little bit of wiggling it usually comes loose! All you have to do is raise the sinker and stopper back up. Check that the hook is not bent, add a silver or gold nibble, and get after them! Be careful not to break your rod tip!

They come loose from tree limbs better, and seem to hook fish well.
