Thanks for sharing. Hopefully next trip they cooperate better.
Every place I fish around Ferriday is high and muddy. I came up with the “bright “ idea to go to Caney Creek Lake. I fished it for bass when it was a new lake. Lots of trees, creeks and shallow and deep water. It will be fun!!
So, I packed up the boat and headed Caney Creek Lake, near Chatham, Louisiana. It is south of Ruston.
After a two hour drive through “miles and miles of soybeans and corn” I arrived at the lake. Nice landing at the dam with a small bait shop and bar and diner.
Fished shallow, deep, and everywhere in between. Didn’t catch a fish! Had a few bites from fish that looked like small crappie or bream. Used hand tied jigs and a few Bobby Garland shad baits in natural shad colors.
I did see a few fish that looked like bass on Livescope. They ran from my crankbait!!
So not exactly the trip I had envisioned, but still had a good time exploring a new lake.
Back to the muddy waters!!
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully next trip they cooperate better.
Thanks for the report. I have days like this quite often and it can be frustrating for sure but that’s why it’s called fishing.

I've only been once. It's not gonna make my regular rotation either. May make a winter trip once they stack up deep just to see
