I hunted around Robert Lee, not that far from you, back in the early 80s and a 130 was a pretty good deer for those parts back then. I was hoping that the quality had gotten better by now. I found south Tx more to my liking, around Hindes and George West. I hunted with Roy Hindes for years. He was the one that taught me how to age deer on the hoof and what quality deer you can have if you are patient and let them grow, thin the does and cull the bucks. We are doing that in a lot of places in Ms now and it is paying off. They are doing a exceptional job behind the Ms River levee and have as good of free range deer as there is anywhere. Those clubs are beyond my pocketbook.
