I've read a lot on this and stayed with an AGM starting battery on my set up. What I read from multiple sources said a lithium STARTING battery will do a great job for most folks under most conditions. The issue with them is if something occurs that causes the BMS to shut down, there's no where for the voltage being produced by the alternator to go and that brief but immediate surge can destroy the alternator and or accessories operating at that time.
Just what I've read, so take it for what it's worth.
What to know about Lithium Cranking (Dual Purpose) Batteries!

Just a moment....
Just thinking, trouble I know -
I’ve now got a charge on the fly setup on my boat connected to a 40ah 36v lithium trolling battery. When the ac charger or the outboard charges my 12v starting battery, excess spills over to the 36v. So the bms on both batteries would have to be kicked out for it to have nowhere to go I believe?
As I understand it, my main battery disconnect switch says stop engine before switching off. I imagine a single lithium starting battery, if the bms kicked off, it would be like switching that disconnect off while running.
