So when you plan on a day on the lake, what do you consider too much wind to chase crappie??
Its the night before and you check weather.com and look at the hourly report, which also list the forcasted wind and direction, what is too much? Where when out on the
lake you just don't think its worth the trouble?? For me its anything over 5mph. The good part its, many times it is mid to late morning before it gets up above 5mph...

I try to go when weather report on hourly says under 5 mph . But what about cold and wind? Next couple days forecast temps in the teens !

I can stand the lower temps, as long as the wind is dead calm and the sun comes up brightly. In fact my ice fishing bibs and jacket are a little too much unless the wind is blowing.
When it's blowing hard enough to make boat control difficult it is time to go home or stay home

Living in Oklahoma 25 or more.
However you can’t believe the weatherman, and have to go check for myself.
Going this morning, 8 degrees, that’s cold for us Okies!

As a general rule, if ya can't spit or pee into the wind, then it is to windy to crappie fish. Now when I am bass fishing, it has to get into the 30+ range before I will call it.

I like the hourly forecast from weather channel Hourly Weather Forecast for Russellville, AR - The Weather Channel | Weather.com
Less is better for me but pushing jigs and minners with spider rig I actually prefer a light wind vs dead calm.
I still catch fish in the 8-10 mph winds. Over that I’ll fish but not do much catching. 12-15+ I load the boat.
I use the weather channel for nearest site to lake I fish.
8mph and up I generally won’t leave the house.
