Nice looking rod. Good job
I continue to acquire rods that I hope will be fun with small fish , but be handle bigger fish when they show up.
Yesterday my 4’11” XUL Palms Egueria Native Performance Rod showed up on my front porch .
It took about eleven days and the package was in excellent shape this time . A good thing because the rod was just thrown into a box and taped closed . No packing at all .
This is another glass rod . I like glass rods for micro fishing.
It’s a beautiful rod finished in gloss black with a wood reel seat and nice cork . The wrappings on the rod are mostly silver thread except for a single gold wrap between two silver ones on the butt end of the rod .
The rod has a nice bend to it . I need to remember to try and snap picture of the bend next time out .
With the new glass of today , the rod is plenty sensitive enough for me to fish my .5g anf .8g micro jigs . I felt every nibble.
I was able to get away for about an hour and a half this mid morning and fish the docks at Lake Kedron . The water level there continues to drop , because of the heat and no rain.
Because of the drop in the water level , I was able to begin my fishing from the bank and had pretty good luck shooting under the docks on one side of the docks .
I caught about half of my fourteen fish shooting the docks .
11 gills , 2 bass, and one small crappie. I lost one even smaller .
The rod was paired with a Shimano Soare bb500spg loaded with my old favorite 2# P-line Floroclear. I spent a couple hours stripping braid off a few reels last night and this morning and spooling them with the 2# .
I’m back to my 2# line . I missed the distance and the sinking of the line and the fact that it isn’t affected by the wind as much . And NO more leaders .
No monsters were caught , gills were in the 4-6” range , a couple smaller . One bass was about three inches and the other maybe 7-8” .
All were fun on the new rod .
I think I prefer this rod over the Quattro. The extra four inches and the glass content makes a difference IMO . But , it is new and if I like a new rod , it becomes my new favorite until the new wears off or I get another new one .
Although I own a few 4’6” UL rods , I always seem to be missing the other 4-6” .
I can’t imagine owning one any shorter than 4’6” .
That is a good looking rig. Is the preference of glass over carbon fiber a personal one or is there a new thinking of glass rods these days?
That’s a better lookin rod bud. I like the darker color. Glad it’s workin for ya so far.

Yes , it’s a personal thing.
Fiberglass rods have been around for ages . Until the last ten years or so , they were whippy and heavy .
The new fiberglass rods are a lot lighter , almost as light as graphite.
Fiberglass has a different feel than graphite, even the new glass .
Older glass had a slow recovery rate that made it harder to cast lighter lures .
Fiberglass flyrods were the first to become popular again with development of the newer glass .
The Palms calls their glass “ unidirectional “
Major Craft has their own glass also .
There’s also “E” glass and “S” glass, one one being softer than other .
I have more fiberglass flyrods than I do graphite.
I just enjoy how glass feels , especially with a fish on .
I broke down and ordered one of the Graywolf fiberglass rods . It too is a 4’11” .
From what I’ve read , they make their own blanks , they call it uni-fiberglass .
It’ll be interesting, and fun to compare Japanese fiberglass blanks with American made fiberglass blanks .
Also , fiberglass rods are generally more durable than graphite rods .
I do not like long fiberglass rods , even in flyrods . Even with the new materials they feel tip heavy . 6’6” max in flyrods , 5’5” max in spinning rods .

My everyday rod is a Graywolf 544 UL spinning rod. It’s an older model with e-glass blanks. I’ve enjoyed fishing it. It balances well with a Vanford 500. But admittedly I’m a minimalist, so I don’t own any additional UL rods to compare it with.

You have inspired me to try mine out on panfish. I’ve only ever used it twice stream fishing for trout using moving baits.
