Interesting
Many eons ago I caught a bass on a clear plastic Zara Spook surface lure. After that, I caught fish on clear plastic crankbaits. A big deal has been made about what lure colors to use for different water clarities, but after seeing how many fish were caught in far less than clear water, I decided to make some clear soft plastics. They caught many fish during warm weather months regardless of water clarity and time of day.
Note: some lure had clear tails, others were only clear plasitc. Note the green colored water behind the bass.
Here are a few examples:
Guess you could say, lure action speaks louder than color.

What mold did this one come out of?.
www.bobsjigs.com
For the body I use this:
Mo Magic injection mold from Do-Itmolds.com that make 6 lures per pore:
I cut the body and fuse it to a Crappie Magnet tail (with candle flame slightly melting the ends and holding them together). Tails from other plastic are also joined. The lure works great right out of the mold!
Note small amount of glitter added to the one on the righ for a bit of flash.
The same company sell the Skinny Carrot injection mold which produces a nice spike tail which I cut off and add to the Mo Magic body.
Note: clear doesn't mean colorless. All plastics bend light at curved sufaces thereby concentrating background colors and shadows plus reflecting light on the upper surface and within the plastic.
Lure motion constantly changes the direction of the light that passes through the plastic.
The Magic tail is added to other bodies - in this case a French Fry stick segment:
You might say that clear plastics produce the lightest tint along with reflection that emphazises shape and action - like any transparent color.
Just saying, without getting too technical...LOL
