I haven't been in a while but had luck putting in at Hill Creek go around Langley and stay out by the bouys at the lift station. I did that at night, haven't been during the day. I have been told by an old timer to check by 64 bridge in the old creek channel.

Nice catch. My dad lives in Van and mainly fishes Lake Fork and on occasion Palestine. I'll tell him he may want to give Lake Tyler a try. I remember him fishing there some, but it has been years ago. Are there any special regulations or permits that he needs to know about to fish the lake? Thanks.

Braved the cold and wind Saturday morning on Lake Tyler. Fished several favorite crappie spots on the old (west) lake with no luck. Decided to test the MK PowerDrive at the dam on the new (East Lake.) Noone else was fishing at the dam, although a few bass boats came blasting by at high speed. Wind was 20 mph from the North, temps were in the low 40's, and occasional waves broke over the bow soaking my feet and the front casting deck. Decided to put away the ultralight crappie tackle and broke out the heavy bassfishing rods. Rigged a 1 ounce bottom weight with a couple of swim baits tied above the weight. Slow trolled directly into the wind while jigging the heavy rig directly off the bottom, banging that heavy weight on the bottom. The MK held it's own against the wind and waves. Boated 8 nice keeper white bass in 35-40' of water. Two were the size of a football. All were returned with sore lips. Stayed there from 12-2 and finally gave in to the weather. What started out as a slow, disappointing day turned out great at the end. :D
