Crappieman1961. I was studying that pic you posted and thought - maybe he's long lining, but then with the multiple rods on the side, I thought no way, that would cause all sorts of tangles. I've only long lined a handful of times and, obviously, you're much better at it than me because with that set up you posted, I'd have it tangled into a nightmare in about 12 seconds.

I've always heard theat Carolina Skiffs ride well compared to other boats of the same size, but it's hard to reason why with their bow design and lack of V. Seen several that really do look like the ticket though. Wide open and full beam forward.

you would be surprised on the tangles very seldom ever get tangled , i can make a very sharp turn and you would think oh my god as long as you keep your speed up you are fine

Will this boat also take into consideration longlining? If so, a wide heavy deep V hull with less boat out of the water for trolling and not getting blown around by wind would be a must. Also, an open plan such as a walleye boat with seat posts set up in the back for trolling out of the back of the boat. A walleye type live well with automatic water circulation would also be nice.

My new-to-me '94 Ranger 681 Fisherman walleye style boat. Set up for spider rigging and longlining.

Gabowman, That is a seriously sweet big water rig. I like that layout and I know that it'll handle a breeze...
