Calling it a "SlabFEAST" this year !!

Set date is April 28th (by majority vote)

Fishing starts 7AM EST
Fishing ends 1PM EST
Fish cleaning & cooking prep starts around 1:30PM EST

Holmes Bend ramp is where we'll start/finish, but you can put in at any ramp you wish to ... just be at Holmes Bend Marina/parking lot/picnic shelter for the "feast" part of the day.

Regrets to those that chose another date ... hoping you have time to, and can change plans to attend on the 28th.

I've instructed CUZZIN to try & procure the picnic shelter area for that date. We'll pass the hat for $$ to repay him. If the shelter is already rented, we may have to figure on using the parking lot somehow banghead

What we need to do, NOW ... is figure out what we'll need to bring to do the fish cleaning, cooking, & eating ... and people to volunteer to bring those items.

I'm thinking fried fish, french fries, hushpuppies, a veggie side, and a dessert plate should be enough (after witnessing tubs of food thrown away at the last event). Two or three deep fryers should cover us.

We have approx. six weeks to get a head count on how many are planning on attending, and what they can/want to bring for the meal preparations.

In the case of unsafe conditions being predicted for that date ... I will make a judgement call within 48hrs prior to that date, and cancel the event if conditions warrant doing so.

Reply to this thread with how many will be in your party, and what you can do or bring to facilitate the cleaning, cooking, & eating. So let's all get it going & Get'r Done !!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to bring any hats/gifts to give away, this time ... so I'm inclined to ask that no one else be expected to go to any expense/effort to bring any "give aways", either. But, if someone does have "samples" or "freebees" that they would like to hand out, or have a draw for, then that's up to you.

I will be there + one.

Things that i will bring.

1. 3 deep fyrers with tanks
2. 2 boxes peanut oil
3. 1 pk 30 ea aluminum pans
4. 1 pk 250 ea 8" foam plates
5. 1 pk 600 ea spoons or forks ( which ever is needed)
6. 1 pk napkins
7. 10 lbs french fries
8. fish mix ( some may want to bring other kinds)
9. fish ( I will be down Friday so i will already have some hopefully)
10. fillet knives, baggies, bowls
11. I do have a couple of door prizes that was donated and may have more by then. I will get a roll of tickets.

If i think of anything else i will post it. The start time a 7:00 am, is it central or eastern? Is everyone bringing their own drinks?

How about this :

You bring #1 #2 & #11 on your list, and we'll let some of the others take care of the other items. (and if we don't get volunteers for the other items you listed, we'll put them back on your list)

My partner & I are in for hushpuppies, bowls, and paper towels.

So .... so far that would mean :

Chucky - fryers/oil, prizes
CP - hushpuppies, paper towels, bowls

Items still needed :

Paper plates
plastic forks/spoons (or "sporks")
Alum foil
Napkins
Ketchup/Tartar Sauce/Salt & Pepper/Hot Sauce
French Fries
Corn Meal &/or other dry mix
1qt ziplock baggies (1-2boxes should be plenty)
Veggie plate (baked beans, cole slaw, ??? ... to be determined)
Dessert plate (cookies, choc cake, ??? ... something along those lines)
Elec filet knives (& fish cleaning volunteers)

Ice & Drinks shouldn't be a problem, as most of us would already be bringing our own. (or ice can be purchased at the Marina)

Feel free to add suggestions for any other items we will need, or any "giveaway" prize items you care to offer.

I was going to bring the other stuff because i can get it fairly cheap but this will work.
