Miscellaneous stories,  tips and pointers - 10/2001
I've been fishing pretty seriously for the last 10 years, mainly concentrating on bass fishing and just started to get bored with it, and wanted a little more challenge...........so I started fishing for blue gill and crappie and have come across a new product made by Berkley called crappie nuggets. what they are is little marsh mellow like balls you tip your jig with. They have several different colors but the best one I've tried is called the platinum, which has silver glitter and a pretty strong fish smell. It has been amazing how well they work.....I'll never leave home without them. what I've been using is a white or chartreuse 2 inch mister twister on a 1/32 ounce head and just tearing them up. In the last 2 days I have caught 75 crappie on a small lake here in Indiana and do very well every where else I've taken them. Wal-Mart carries these for about 5 dollars, cheaper than minnows, and last a lot longer!..................................hope ya catch more crappie!!!! Rusty

My name is Patrick Sh. I am a die hard Crappie fisherman who thought he knew all the tricks until one day this past spring i was introduced to

drifting for crappie. just like you would drift for catfish its the same thing only you're crappie fishing. I was very doubtful the first time we hit the water on LAKE TYLER in TYLER, TX but after 2 hours of drifting and and three people in the boat caught their limit I am a firm believer in drifting for Crappie.

Christopher caught this 2 lb crappie at his favorite crappie hole lake Anna VA. They catch many big ones there.

Hello all,
Living in northern eastern Oklahoma offers some of the best fall crappie fishing to be found anywhere. Just in the last 3 weeks I have visited a public dock and at the days ends filleting 11 to 14 inch crappie. The technique is 1/32nd oz. single jig fishing in submerged brush from 8 to 12 ft deep. I also have found a great jig retriever for those you fish the single jig as I do. Take a 5/8th oz sinker that's split down the middle and has the tabs on both ends, bend down the tabs just over your line and slide it down the line to dislodge the jigs ....Thanks to fishing fixings tackle for this jig saving idea.
This dock is located on Eufala lake and the name of the dock is belle star marina. The Crappie fishing is doing fantastic on all area lakes and if you live in Oklahoma get out and enjoy this fantastic crappie action.
I will be trying out other area lakes and will report the fishing as soon as I can. Hey folks one can only watch so much football so grab that crappie rod, jig pouch or minnow bucket and enjoy the weekend catching crappie. Good luck Ron of Stonecreek Rods
