Were taking fire and trying to stay alive Bullets are flying like bees from an angry hive Many of my brothers are hurt and some are dead This world that im in right now can make a man go out of his head Times are harsh and quick action is what we must take Some harsh decisions are some that I must make The enemy is close, I can see them clear The language they speak, I don’t understand but I can sure hear Screams are all around me; my men are ready to fight Now that this enemy is in our sight I tell them to hold still, not just yet The time for victory is near, that’s a sure bet The time finally came and the fighting was tough But it’s now over and ive had enough Our wounded are being tended to and our dead as well This place in Iraq we all call hell Now that it’s over I have time to think I picture my Son with his fishing pole and im giving him a wink Were at the lake together just me and him Fishing like buddies and he’s catching some bream I hear his voice saying to me, I got one Dad He tells me this is the best time he has ever had These thoughts bring a tear to my eye They make a big Soldier like me want to cry But the thought of his cork going down and the biggest fish is what he caught In a time like this, that is this Soldiers best Calming Thought
